Three Amazing Life-Changing Modern Gadgets

The incredible momentum, with which technology has evolved, has somehow made most of us blind to the huge changes that have happened in the past years. In 2013 we have learned to embrace technology, but we sometimes forget how things were like 20 years ago. Sure, the internet has given birth to many opportunities which probably seemed like Sci-Fi stories a few decades ago, but there are many modern apps and gadgets that have significantly simplified and improved our life, but to which we do not give sufficient credit.

Movies like Blade Runner, Oblivion, and Cloud Atlas have shown us a glimpse of how the future might be like, but before we look towards it, should we not give praise to the gadgets that appeared before? In the age of digital technology, and consumerism, the modern man has become accustomed to so many commodities, that he sometimes forgets how it all began. Let’s take a look at some gadgets that have truly changed our lives or the way that we understand the people around us. The gadgets below are the ones which paved the way to other great ones.

1. The Digital Camera

In the beginning, there was the Polaroid. Obviously, one cannot deny the aesthetic charm of vintage photos, but only our parents know how annoying it can be to run out of film, or print photos that have fingers on them. With the Polaroid camera, you never knew what shot you got, so if you ended up looking like a dweeb, there was nothing much you could do. Along with the digital camera, also came duck-faced girls, but hey, it’s a sacrifice we are more than willing to make. There is actually news of super high-quality devices that are able to capture things that not even your eyes can distinguish.

2. Electronic Cigarettes

The first electronic cigarette was invented in 1963 by Herbert A. Gilbert, who patented it under the name of “smokeless non-tobacco cigarette”. Nevertheless, it was the Chinese pharmacist, Hon Lik that managed to release the first usable electronic cigarette generation in 2000. There is no need to emphasize on the usefulness of these devices, because the modern man is already aware of them. With these nifty little gadgets one can enjoy the heated, moist, flavored air that smells nice and does not disturb other. Many people have made the change to blu cigs, and they say that they would never go back.

3. Bluetooth

I don’t know how many of you really appreciate the usefulness of Bluetooth, but I believe that it is one of the most important inventions of the 21^st Century. This technology caught us by surprise, but it has rapidly become one of the most widespread technologies of the moment. I really don’t know how my parents and grandparents managed to live without it. Its main application is to transmit data between phones, laptops and TVs, even if you do not benefit from an internet connection. You can even use it while driving, to avoid the police, if you are feeling a little frisky.

It is true that the 21^st century has witnessed many monumental developments, but these three are the ones I consider have had the most impact on our lives until know. What are your opinions on the subject?
